Not Your Grandma’s Sweater…

I haven’t had much time to pay attention to this year’s NY Fashion Week – even though I live in it’s epicenter.  But I have stumbled upon some rather exciting new developments from some of my favorite designers to follow – as well as designers that are new to me.

London-based SIBLING, consisting of designers Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery have put together an amazing colorful collection, SISTER, circled around the concept of Matriarchy.  I’d say nothing says “Matriarch” better than a punchy cardigan….wouldn’t you?

Things You Have to Buy When You Turn 27

In honor of my upcoming birthday…I thought I’d start to think about my maturing age.  I’m heading towards….the 3-word and perhaps it’s time to procure more appropriate provisions.  Such as…

Super shiny pants.

A sensible bag that goes with everything.

Comfortable shoes.

A schedule.

Work heels.

My year of utter adult-ness and responsibility starts now.

Tote-ally Awesome

In an attempt to distract myself from inhuman back pain, I browsed totes on Urban Outfitters.  Always nice to find interesting ways to carry all 987 items necessary for my daily survival.

Items required for daily survival:

  1. Rosebud Perfume Co. Lip Balm
  2. G2 Android phone
  3. Bottle of water
  4. Metro Card
  5. Current read: A New Earth- Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose
  6. Random pieces of paper with ambiguous importance and various content
  7. Compact mirror
  8. Security ID for work
  9. House keys (why is this 9th on the list?)
  10. Very tiny but totally helpful umbrella
  11. Tiny notebook
  12. Eleven pens
  13. Extra pair of shoes
  14. Extra pair of pants (for an after work activity, not for incontinence)

I have yet to perfect the habit of keeping tissue in my purse.  I’m assuming that will come with motherhood or my first truly embarrassing projectile sneeze incident.  In the mean time, I stick to immediate basics.

What’s in your bag?

Classic Beauty

Isabella Rossellini

Fashion and Other Disasters

To keep a long story short…

Wiki’s b-day in Tuxedo Park, NY.  Had a blast falling down a hill in skis.  Drinking Four Loko on the way up and tubing down a hill in fast-motion spirals.  8 adults acting like children, good times!

Went to Milk Studios in Chelsea to see the Katie Gallagher show and the Erickson Beamon show.  Free champagne and hop-nobbing with the fashion snobs of NY…

7 Awesome Things About Today

I woke up this morning in one of those horrible random panics.  The ones that always happen to me when my alarm clock goes haywire and “forgets” to wake me (so I wake myself up with a gasp and piss off male company…although I didn’t have any last night MOM if your reading this).  Only this morning I was supposed to be covering for my desk-partner and get to work 2 hours early….I was late by 30 minutes to the shagrin of my boss (who responded to my warning email with a cryptic “ok…” – as if accidents like that can never happen in the world).  I looked at the sign above my desk…

Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo

I shook it off.  Then I got dressed so fast it would put Tasmanian Devil to shame and grabbed my fall coat instead of my winter coat out of pure sleep-crazed confusion.  So I froze my ass all the way to work in 17 degree weather.

That was the one shitty thing about today…but here are things that rock:

#1 It’s Friday….nuff said.

#2 Ski Trip Tomorrow With the Buds!!

#3 My new boss sent out my official welcome email to me and my new team…marking a nice fat (much-needed) promotion and raise.

#4 I have my first meeting with my admissions counselor for the school I’m applying for Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts.

#5 I found an awesome denim brand (that probably everyone else in the world knows about but who cares…I found it, so it’s mine) called Pray for Mother Nature and their jeans/pants are completely awesome and hello?… their brand name is genius.

#6 I am not completely broke and have put aside a little bit of dollas’ to get my best friend an awesomeiferous birthday gift.  I love picking out gifts for people…when I can (which now I’ll be able to do a little more often).

#7 After an arctic chill of a week in New York the weather says tomorrow is going to be in the low to mid 40’s!  That’s really whats awesome about tomorrow, but what it made my day anyway.

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
